California gas prices: See how Sacramento is faring compared to other cities

Gas prices in the U.S. keep climbing, as oil prices recently reached rates not seen in seven years.

In California, drivers are looking at prices around $4.51 per gallon on average, well over the national average of $3.34, according to the American Automobile Association.

Here’s what you need to know about gas prices today:

Where is the most expensive gas in the state?

San Rafael, Santa Rosa and San Francisco are all seeing average gas prices around $4.71 today, according to AAA. Sacramento’s average price of around $4.53 makes it the 11th most expensive in the state.

What cities saw the biggest growth in gas prices?

San Rafael again comes in on top — compared to last week, gas prices in that city rose by more than 10 cents. Yuba City comes in second, with average prices there rising by .088 cents. Prices in Sacramento grew by a little more than a nickel compared to last week.

Where is gas the cheapest?

Gas prices are cheapest on average in Yuba City, at around $4.30, according to AAA. Hanford-Corcoran comes in second at close to $4.35 followed by Modesto at nearly $4.39.
