Police have charged the roommate of a man who was killed last month in southeast Calgary with second-degree murder.

On July 8, officers were called to a home in the 1900 block of Cottonwood Crescent S.E. at about 3 a.m. for reports of a man in medical distress.

Kevin Allen Honish, 55, was taken to hospital in serious condition. On July 16, he died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the assault occurred at a residence in the 2500 block of 10th Avenue S.E. during a dispute between the victim and accused, who were roommates.

On Monday, police said in a release that Collin Dean Oxtoby, 48, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder.

He is set to appear in court on Aug. 10.

Witnesses and anyone with information about the incident are asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
