Buildings Collapse in Malatya as Earthquake Death Toll Rises

Buildings collapsed in the eastern Turkish city of Malatya as a 7.8-magnitude earthquake early on February 6 was followed by a second quake of 7.5 magnitude that afternoon nearer to the city.

This footage from Twitter user @kawaitirtil shows the air filled with dust in the wake of a building collapse in the Zafer district of Malatya.

The death toll, which had been rising through the day, stood at around 1,500 for Turkey in latest figures, and at over 400 in Syria. Thousands more people were injured.
