New Brunswick reports two COVID-19 deaths, 87 new infections

FREDERICTON — Public Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting two more COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total count in the province to 84.

The deaths involve a person over the age of 90 in the Fredericton region and a person in their 70s in the Edmundston region.

Officials also reported 87 new cases of COVID-19 and 124 recoveries, leaving the active case count at 1,064.

Since Sept. 7, 99 schools in the province and 53 early learning and child-care facilities have had confirmed cases.

The province's vaccine update says that over 82 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are fully vaccinated, while 91 per cent have received at least one dose.

Sixty people are hospitalized due to the virus, including 18 in intensive care.
