Just over one minute into Tuesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask suffered an elbow to the head, forcing him out for the remainder of the game.
Forward Emil Bemstrom was skating by the crease and knocked Rask’s head. The Bruins netminder was down in his crease, but fortunately was able to skate to the bench without help.
Rask has a history of concussions and one has to hope that this knock against Columbus will not keep the goaltender out for too long.
After the game, Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy confirms the speculation that Rask suffered a concussion on the play.
Through 27 starts this season, Rask has a .925 save percentage and a 2.27 goals against average.
