Britney Spears has shown support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

On Monday (19 April), the singer reshared a photo to Instagram of a man sat on a bus, holding a sign that reads: “White people have generational wealth. Black people have generational trauma. #WeAreNotTheSame.”

“Just sayin’ !!!!” Spears wrote, adding the hashtags “#BlackLivesMatter” and “#BLM” to the caption.

The singer’s followers praised her for showing support for the cause, with one commenter writing: “Thank you for speaking up.”

One comment read: “SPEAK ON THAT.”

Black Lives Matter protests have taken place once again in the US in the last week following the shooting of Daunte Wright.

Wright, 20, was shot and killed by Minnesota police officer Kim Potter during a traffic stop on Sunday 11 April, in what police have claimed was an “accident”.

Wright’s mother told reporters her son was shot by officers from the Brooklyn Center Police Department after he was pulled over in a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon.

She said that he had called her on her mobile phone when he was pulled over, apparently after police objected to the air fresheners in his vehicle and got out of his car, which the family had given him just two weeks ago.

Local media said Katie Wright told them she had heard someone on the phone saying: “Daunte, don’t run.”
