British police gear up for upcoming G7 Summit

British police officers are preparing for this summer's G7 summit at sea as well as on land as members of the local constabulary ran practise exercises on Thursday (May 13).

Britain plans to hold the first in-person meeting of the G7 for nearly two years in June, inviting the leaders of major developed economies to a picturesque seaside village to discuss rebuilding from the pandemic and climate change.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall police took part in drills involving speed boats and diving units as preparation for the summit gears up. Police Sergeant Andrew Joyner said the diving team will be ready for any potential problems at the summer event saying, "we'll hopefully

be able to pick up any problem long before it gets anywhere near where somebody can cause a problem."
