Yahoo Movies Brie Larson explains being "scared" of joining the MCU
Captain Marvel star Brie Larson was initially "scared of what would happen" to her upon agreeing to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It's now four years since she first soared onto the big screen opposite Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos as the cosmic superhero Carol Danvers, with a second solo outing via The Marvels scheduled for late 2023.
On those early nerves, Larson recently told Harper's Bazaar: "I was scared of what would happen to me. I was like, 'What world is this, what are the choices I have to make as an artist?'"

Although such a life-changing opportunity warranted risking her relative anonymity, the Oscar-winning actress is wary of the expectancy from fans.
"Anytime I feel like I'm being put too much on a pedestal, it's my job to figure out how to remove that within myself," Larson added.
Addressing her decision to play Carol back in 2021, she referenced the relatability of the Marvel Comics icon as a major factor.

"The thing that has just broken my heart open the most has been how many different kinds of people respond to Carol," she explained.
"It's so much more than me, and so much more than my body holds. Different sexual orientations or ways that you identify with gender or race. It goes beyond that. And that's the thing that's been exciting for me.
"I was like, 'I want to work really hard to create a symbol that other people can take and wear and feel power in', that was it."
The Marvels has a release date of November 10. Captain Marvel is streaming on Disney+ and available on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download.
