Brentford must be more clinical, says defender Mathias Jorgensen after Leicester defeat

Brentford defender Mathias Jorgensen has urged his team-mates to be more clinical as they look to build on their fine start to life in the Premier League.

The Bees were beaten 2-1 by Leicester yesterday as Youri Tielemans and James Maddison struck either side of Jorgensen’s header.

It was a frustrating result for Brentford who, as against Chelsea the previous week, dominated possession and were the better side over the course of the 90 minutes.

Ultimately, however, Leicester claimed all three points and it means Brentford have slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League after a bright start to life in the top-flight.

“I think the Premier League is all about being clinical,” said Jorgensen. “Having the guy that wins the game for you, whether that being a keeper that makes a great save or a defender that makes a great block, a striker that gets that goal.

“I think we have so much quality upfront and we will keep scoring goals, I am not worried about that. But obviously on a day like this, it does hurt that we don’t get anything, or anymore, out of all the chances and ball we had today.”

Brentford are back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Stoke in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Boss Thomas Frank is likely to make changes for the match, while defender Ethan Pinnock and forward Bryan Mbeumo need to be assessed after coming off with injuries yesterday.
