Breakfast & lunch chain with ‘best dang biscuits’ plans 2nd Johnson County restaurant

North Carolina’s Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken will open its second Johnson County restaurant.

Franchisee Ryan Cook opened the scratch biscuit and chicken concept’s first area location in Prairie Village in mid-2019.

Now he plans a location in Deer Creek Marketplace, 7060 W. 135th St., Overland Park, for a fall opening.

Its slogan: “The best dang dang biscuits and beyond.”

So the menu includes biscuits filled with savory and sweet ingredients: crispy bacon and sausage; fried green tomatoes with Southern pimento cheese; sausage on a glazed blueberry biscuit; guacamole, tomato, fried egg and bacon; Nashville hot chicken and more.

It also has cheddar tots, seasoned fries, fried okra, cheese grits, biscuit cinnamon rolls, doughnuts and coffee. It offers online ordering and pickup from its heated food lockers.

Hours will be 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

“I’m just excited we get to bring it to southern Johnson County,” Cook said. “The response has been great and we hope we can keep it going out in Overland Park.”

He also is looking at other metro sites as well as Lawrence for a third location.

The chain was founded in 2012 and currently has 17 stores in operation and more than 100 franchise locations under contract. QSR magazine put Rise on its 40/40 List for 2021: America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals and Fast Casual’s 2021 Top 100 Movers & Shakers.
