Brazil outclassed Serbia 2-0 in their World Cup opener as Richarlison's second-half goals, including a spectacular overhead kick, propelled the five-times champions to the top of Group G.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward has been in fine form when wearing the golden yellow kit of Brazil this year and he opened the scoring with an easy tap-in before doubling the lead with his acrobatic effort.

Siwtzerland, meanwhile, secured a hard-fought win over Cameroon in their opening game and have a decent record against the Selecao so will not be overawed by facing the tournament favourites next up.

Whoever wins this match can take control of the group, with Serbia and Cameroon still searching for their first points.

The game will be played in Stadium 947 in Doha. The 44,089-seater arena was opened in November last year. It was made out of disused shipping containers and will be dismantled after the World Cup closes, making it the first temporary stadium in the competition’s history.

Brazil manager Tite believes the injured Neymar will play again in Qatar as he spoke about the fouling of players that "has to be stopped".

Neymar limped off late on when Brazil opened their Group G campaign with a 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday and the team's doctor had revealed both the Paris Saint-Germain forward and defender Danilo will miss the clash with Switzerland due to ankle issues.

Neymar was said to have a "lateral ligament injury to [his] right ankle along with a small bone swelling".

Tite said: "I believe Neymar and Danilo will be playing the World Cup. That's my opinion. Medically and clinically, I'm not in the position to speak about those things. But I also have medical reports on my side.

"I can continue to say that not only about Neymar but also about Danilo, who at first seemed to be in a more comfortable position. Both of their situations have evolved. But for both of them we believe they will be available to play the World Cup moving forward."

When it was put to Tite that Neymar had been on the receiving end of nine fouls during Thursday's contest at the Lusail Stadium, he said: "I must say, if you want to celebrate football, we have to pay attention to the rotation of fouls. Because they focus on specific players, this is a fact, and this has to be stopped."

Midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri says Switzerland are going into the game against Brazil with more experience and poise than they did when they drew with Brazil in 2018.

Shaqiri, who has represented Switzerland in four consecutive World Cups, said the Swiss felt capable of getting a better result against Brazil this time.

"That was a positive outcome," Shaqiri said of the 2018 draw. "We are aware of what we can do and I think we have made progress. We have more experience and have been challenged by greater teams since."

Switzerland have reached the knockout stage in three of their last four World Cups but crashed out at the group stage in 2010. Brazil, unbeaten in qualifying for Qatar, have won the World Cup five times and are favourites to win a record-extending sixth title.

Shaqiri said Switzerland could not afford to squander any scoring opportunities if they wanted to have a chance of defeating the tournament favourites. "If you don't get a lot of opportunities, you really need to take advantage of them," he said. "That's what we want to do."
