Brazil energy trading firm Focus plans to raise $189 mln in IPO

SAO PAULO, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Brazilian energy trading firm Focus Energia plans to raise 1 billion reais ($189.35 million) in an initial public offering to be priced on Feb. 4, according to a securities filing.

The company intends to sell its shares for between 21.20 reais and 28.60 reais, Focus said.

It will sell roughly 57.3 million shares, including new and existing shares, the company added.

Focus plans to use the proceeds of the offering to invest mainly in solar power and to increase liquidity.

The IPO comes as the energy trading in Brazil is booming and had its biggest growth in number of new consumers since 2016.
