Boy, 14, struck and killed by BMW in Oldham

A 14-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in Greater Manchester.

The teenager was hit in a crash involving a BMW in Park Road, Oldham, shortly after 8am on Tuesday.

He was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance crews but was later pronounced dead.

A 42-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

An investigation into the circumstances is continuing and police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

Roads were closed at the junctions of Woodstock Street and Kings Road but later reopened.

Chief Inspector Nicola De Maine of GMP’s Oldham District told the Manchester Evening News: “This is a tragic and very sad incident. Our thoughts are with the boy’s family at this dreadful time.

“Specialist officers are supporting them while we investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

“If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the collision, or have any details that can assist our investigations, please call police.”
