Get books and warm blankets ready: Forecast shows days of rain ahead in Dallas-Fort Worth

North Texans could see several days of continuous rain over the next week, with some areas getting as much as 9.25 inches of precipitation over seven days, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

In Dallas-Fort Worth, there is a 75% chance of at least two inches of rainfall over the course of seven days, according to the National Weather Service. There is a 50% chance of around 4.5 inches of rain for areas in DFW.

In Fort Worth, the weather service forecasts thunderstorms could start as early as Saturday night, with chances increasing Sunday. On Monday, showers are likely and thunderstorms are possible in the morning, growing in likelihood into the afternoon and evening.

Rain is expected to continue through Wednesday and possibly into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Thunderstorms could bring chances of flooding to the area.

Storms Wednesday night brought flooding to some areas of Fort Worth, including in the West 7th entertainment district, where some streets had water up to waist height.

Temperatures next week could drop as low as 83 on Monday, with the highest temp forecast at 96 on Sunday.
