Bone-chilling temperatures and north winds headed for Dallas-Fort Worth with arctic front

It’s going to get bitterly cold, again.

A cold front is scheduled to arrive Wednesday in North Texas, bringing with it north winds and arctic air that will drop temperatures into the 20s on Thursday morning with wind chills in the teens in Tarrant County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Fort Worth say the wind chill value could be 12 in Fort Worth on Thursday morning, and it could be single digits in some other areas of Tarrant County.

As for Wednesday, the cold front arrives sometime after 9 a.m. The daytime high on Wednesday should be about 55.

“The temperatures will drop slowly during the day,” said Patrica Sanchez at the NWS in Fort Worth on Wednesday. “It should be in the 40s by late this afternoon.”

There’s no precipitation in this cold front for North Texas, but a wintry mix is in the forecast for counties in the Waco, Temple and Killeen area.

North winds will be 20 to 25 mph in North Texas, making the temperatures bone-chilling.

“Thursday will be a good day to say indoors,” Sanchez said.

Thursday morning temperatures will be in the mid-20s, and the daytime high will be just in the upper 30s.

It will be cold again on Friday morning as North Texans will wake up to temperatures in the lower 20s. The high temperature on Friday will be in the lower 40s.

The cold weather will stick around on Saturday, but it will gradually warm up for a few days before another system arrives next week, bringing some chances of rain.
