Zach Galifianakis roasts Oscar hopefuls in new ‘Between Two Ferns’ interviews

Leave it to funnyman Zach Galifianakis to add some levity to an increasingly dour Oscar race.

Things were starting to get a little serious there with talk of beef between two Best Actress nominees and seemingly endless speculation over which movie will take home the Best Picture trophy. (Hint: it's probably going to be "Argo"). But thankfully, Galifianakis leapt into action this week to help cool Tinsel Town tensions -- or, perhaps, rachet them up exponentially with his hilarious and confounding brand of comedy!

Resurrecting his ridiculous on-again off-again fake talk show “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis,” the former stand-up comedian invited Oscar-nominated actors and actresses to discuss their acclaimed roles. Nominees like Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Christoph Waltz, Jessica Chastain, and Galifianakis' "Hangover" series co-star Bradley Cooper all stop by to chat with the comedian, with the tone of the conversations ranging from confused and insulting, to inebriated, downright strange, and (in Cooper's case) fern-chucking and extremely violent.

Watch the slightly not safe for work (for language) parts 1 and 2 of "Between Two Ferns: Oscar Buzz Edition" below.

These Galifianakis videos may be just for laughs, but "Lincoln" star and Best Actor nominee Daniel Day Lewis still brings his A-game. The English actor is a true chameleon.

Expect these nominated performers to be on much better behaviour at the 85th Academy Awards, airing Feb. 24 on CTV.
