‘Ted’ red-band trailer: Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis take on a foul-mouthed teddy bear

It finally happened. Someone let "Family Guy" creator Seth McFarlane make a feature film, and the results are predictably quite funny and guaranteed to offend somebody (if not everybody).

"Ted," McFarlane's live-action directorial debut, tells the story of John (Mark Wahlberg), a Bostonian whose childhood wish for a real-live teddy bear comes true. The result of John's wish is Ted, a talking, anthropomorphic teddy bear (computer generated and voiced by McFarlane) with a mouth like a sailor and a penchant for drugs and fast women.

The two best friends have their relationship put to the test when the woman of John's dreams (played by "Family Guy" vet Mila Kunis) enters the picture.

You can watch the very not-safe-for-work R-rated trailer for the movie below:

You can't really fault McFarlane for sticking so close to the familiar "Family Guy"/"American Dad" formula with "Ted," because it's a recipe that seems to have paid off for him so far. Viewers will know the score right away: An otherwise ordinary main character has to deal with a talking animal, baby, or alien sidekick and hilarity ensues.

McFarlane has been pushing the envelope for years with his various animated series on Fox, so one can only imagine the heights of vulgarity and offensiveness that he'll hit when given free reign with an R-rated comedy. Wahlberg, always known for his colourful language and in-your-face demeanor, seems like a perfect foil for McFarlane's equally out-there teddy bear.

"Ted" is due for release on July 13.
