Surprising ages of stars at TIFF 2014

The Toronto International Film Festival first started way back in 1976, and believe it or not, some of the stars who are attending this year may have made the rounds then, too. You might be surprised by the ages of some of your favourite stars coming to TIFF 2014.

Fonda became a household name in the '60s with "Cat Ballou," "Barefoot in the Park" and "Barbarella." Here she is now, at the age of 76, and she's not only headlining one of the most anticipated ensemble pieces this year, "This is Where I Leave You," but she's barely looking old enough to play the mom of co-stars Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Adam Driver and Corey Stoll. Stunning.

There's something about a man with a rich, smooth voice, right? The Toronto-born actor, who turns 85 in December, continues to keep plugging away and stars in both "The Forger" (with John Travolta and Abigail Spencer) and "Hector and the Search for Happiness" (alongside Simon Pegg, Rosamund Pike, Toni Collette and Stellan Skarsgård).

The guy who will forever be known as Danny Zuko (or Vinnie Barbarino, or Tony Manero, or Vincent Vega) is 60 and hasn't stopped wowing us with his choices. He stars in "The Forger" alongside Christopher Plummer and Abigail Spencer.

Like Plummer's voice, there's something so captivating about Redgrave's languid tone. The gorgeous 77-year-old appears alongside Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo in the powerfully disturbing true-crime saga "Foxcatcher," which has already received wide acclaim.

Dustin Hoffman

Can you believe Hoffman is 77?! Unreal. It seems like just yesterday he was wowing us in "The Graduate," "Midnight Cowboy" and "Kramer vs. Kramer." The two-time Oscar winner has two movies at the 2014 festival: "Boychoir," from acclaimed Canadian director François Girard, and "The Cobbler," starring Adam Sandler, Ellen Barkin and Steve Buscemi.

Is 60 the new 50? In recent years, Washington has been mixing up his flair for the dramatic with action films — and doing it convincingly. The latest for Denzel? "The Equalizer," which reunites him with his "Training Day" director, Antoine Fuqua. "The Equalizer" shows Washington's character using his lethal skills as a former CIA agent to protect a young woman (Chloë Grace Moretz) from the Russian mob — and, boy, does he looks good doing it.

The gorgeous 60-year-old with the husky voice is perfect in the charming fantasy "The Cobbler," which also stars Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi.

Al Pacino

Does anyone else think this is what Johnny Depp is going to look like in 20 years? Really, only a handful of men can pull off a scarf the way they do. Pacino, 74, has two films at the Festival: "Manglehorn," which stars Holly Hunter, Harmony Korine and Chris Messina, and follows Pacino's character as he tries to get over the love of his life; and "The Humbling," in which Pacino plays an addled actor whose world is turned upside down after he embarks on an affair with a much younger woman (Greta Gerwig). The perfect roles, no?

He may not be a household name, but you've definitely seen him before. The seemingly ageless 61-year-old, who has been in everything from "Fargo" and "The Big Lebowski," to "Prison Break" and "The Blacklist," stars alongside Jane Levy in Canadian director Jeffrey St. Jules' feature debut "Bang Bang Baby."

It's been a while since we've seen the beautiful 60-year-old actress. And that's just sad. But Russo, who many of us first fell for in 1989's "Major League" (don't pretend you didn't love it), is back in the gripping crime thriller "Nightcrawler," alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Bill Paxton.

Remember Kline in "A Fish Called Wanda"? Yeah, he's still hot. Next up for the 66-year-old is "My Old Lady," which also stars Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas.

The 68-year-old stunner, who seemingly pumps out several movies a year, is perfectly matched with Morgan Freeman in "Ruth & Alex."

Keaton's on-screen husband in "Ruth & Alex" is 77 years old and actually does pump out several movies a year. In the film, Freeman and Keaton play a couple in their so-called golden years who are starting to feel the undeniable effects of age. In real life, neither actor is showing any signs of slowing down.
