Has "Twilight Saga" star Kristen Stewart been in the news lately? Oh, right -- the whole cheating scandal thing. R Pattz and K Stew may be no more, but as the old Hollywood adage goes: the show must go on. And it looks like the show is taking Stewart to Toronto.

While her much-publicized cheating scandal continues to dominate gossip headlines, Stewart's latest film, "On The Road," was quietly added to the Toronto International Film Festival's 2012 movie lineup last week -- and Stewart will reportedly show up for the screening.

Walter Salles' adaptation of the famed Jack Kerouac novel of the same name debuted to mixed reviews at the Cannes Film Fest earlier this year, but at that time, the only controversy surrounding the film centered on Stewart's much-talked-about first nude scene. What a difference a few months and one high-profile Hollywood breakup can make, eh? With Stewart now set to make her first public appearance at the film's TIFF premiere in September, it's safe to say that "On The Road" will be making a splash at the festival no matter how good or bad the movie might be.

For a preview of what can be expected in a few weeks, one need only look at the media firestorm that Stewart's former flame and "Twilight Saga" co-star Robert Pattinson endured this week while promoting his latest film "Cosmopolis." Canadian director David Cronenberg's latest film literally could not have picked a worse time to be released in the United States, with most of the press's questions for star Pattinson relating not to the film but to his recent breakup with Stewart. You stay classy, movie press!

There is a positive side to this collision of gossip and arthouse movie culture, though. If Stewart's TIFF appearance gets a few Twi-hards to put down the Stephenie Meyer in favour of Kerouac's classic coming of age tale, then she'll simply be doing her part for the greater good of society.

"On The Road" premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and will be released in North America on December 21.
