‘Snow White and the Huntsman 2:’ Kristen Stewart in, Rupert Sanders out?

With the final installment of the "Twilight Saga" currently dominating at the box office, it makes sense that "Breaking Dawn — Part 2" cast members would be riding high on the wave of publicity and eagerly talking up their next projects.

Robert Pattinson, who plays brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the series, has spoken quite a bit about his upcoming projects, including collaborations with acclaimed directors like Werner Herzog and David Cronenberg. Taylor Lautner, who plays the shapeshifting Jacob Black in the "Twilight Saga," has also mentioned his upcoming roles in the Adam Sandler comedy "Grown Ups 2" and the parkour actioner "Tracers."

But series headliner Kristen Stewart, who plays the newly transformed Bella Swan in "Breaking Dawn — Part 2," hasn't spoken too much about her post-"Twilight" career plans.

"I'm kinda desperate to get a job right now," the actress joked to E! News last week. "I'm itching to go back to work."

Chances are that the young actress won't have to look far for a job, though. Stewart may return to take up the reins of another franchise, if gossip bloggers are to be believed.

According to Radar Online, Stewart has signed on to reprise the role of Snow White in the sequel to this year's "Snow White and the Huntsman," a film that carries some unfortunate baggage for its director and the actress.

As the Internet no doubt made you aware of, earlier this year a series of photos revealed that Stewart had become romantically involved with married "Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders. Stewart herself was in a long term relationship with her "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson at the time, and the whole thing caused quite the stir. After the big box office success of "SWatH," Universal had begun talking about a potential sequel, but those plans were quickly shelved in the wake of the scandal and Stewart was reportedly dropped from the picture. Instead, the studio planned to continue the franchise as a spin-off starring Huntsman Chris Hemsworth with Sanders possibly returning to direct.

Well, it seems the recent success of "Breaking Dawn — Part 2" has caused the Powers That Be at Universal to reconsider Stewart as their "Snow White" leading lady. The Radar report cites an inside source that says Stewart is definitely signed on for the "Snow White" sequel and that Sanders will definitely not be part of it, given that the production will involve Stewart. "Rupert didn't want to be a part of it to begin with because he is desperately still trying to save his marriage," said the source.

The whole thing sounds terribly awkward, but everyone knew that a potential "Snow White" sequel would be fraught with personal landmines like this. Here's hoping that Sanders and his wife can reconcile in much the same way that Stewart and Pattinson apparently have.

Stewart will next be seen at Christmas in "On the Road," Walter Salles risqué adaptation of the Jack Kerouac novel of the same name. The film features a sexed-up and frequently topless performance by Stewart, one that is about as far from "Twilight"-style fare as she could get. As long as Stewart's wild behaviour is in front of movie cameras and not paparazzi lenses, "Snow White" fans will have nothing to worry about.
