Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper hug it out post-’Sexiest Man Alive’ scandal

A storm of sexy pummeled Toronto on Friday night.

We're talking, of course, about the "A Place Beyond the Pines" premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, where People's Sexiest Man Alive Bradley Cooper got up close and personal with the man he famously thought should have won the title, Ryan Gosling.

As Gosling arrived at the premiere, Cooper swooped in and greeted Gosling with a proper embrace -- none of that shoulder-hugging bro stuff. That was about all Cooper had time to do, though, as Gosling appeared only briefly on the Princess of Wales Theatre's red carpet, according to the Globe and Mail.

Back in November, People named Cooper their 2011 Sexiest Man Alive, despite two-time former title winner George Clooney predicting Gosling, his "Ides of March" co-star, would be given the crown. Fans of the 31-year-old "Notebook" heartthrob were so shocked by the snub that they protested People magazine's New York offices. And instead of being hurt, Cooper sided with them.

The 37-year-old "Silver Linings Playbook" star realized Gosling should have won over him after perusing photos of the London, Ont. native.

"And it's pictures of him walking around and he literally looks like he's in a photo shoot, like he just came off the runway," Cooper said on the U.K.'s "Graham Norton Show." "There's ones of me, and I literally look like the neighbour who never really comes out of his house, and when he does, you're, like, 'Maybe you should just stay in.'"

Well, we're happy that both Cooper and Gosling made it out on Friday night.
