Official ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ casting breakdown reveals a film full of fit, beautiful people

With “Star Trek Into Darkness” barely in the bag, the casting search has apparently already begun for director J. J. Abrams' next big project: the highly anticipated/dreaded “Star Wars Episode VII.”

Bleeding Cool managed to get their paws on a leaked copy of a casting breakdown alleged to be for “Episode VII.” Lucasfilm (which, under former owner and "Star Wars" creator George Lucas was famous for its secrecy) quickly confirmed that the casting breakdown leak was indeed the real deal.

Here’s what the “Star Wars Episode VII” casting call looks like:

Late-teen female, independent, good sense of humour, fit.

Young twenty-something male, witty and smart, fit but not traditionally good looking.

A late twentysomething male, fit, handsome and confident.

Seventy-something male, with strong opinions and tough demeanour. Also doesn’t need to be particularly fit.

A second young female, also late teens, tough, smart and fit.

Forty something male, fit, military type.

Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn’t need to be fit.

Casting breakdowns are used by producers and agents to find the right actors to fill roles. Breakdowns usually offer a few key character details and nothing more. Such documents are normally not a big deal, but this is "Star Wars."

Other than the fact that the space opera sequel will be set some years after the classic “Star Wars” trilogy -- and that stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher will figure into the proceedings somehow -- almost nothing is known about the Abrams-directed sequel. This casting call now represents the bulk of what fans know about the upcoming sequel.

It’s been rumoured for a few months that “Episode VII” might feature a young, female protagonist, and the leaked casting call may confirm that rumour. Could this headstrong, funny, and fit character be Jaina Solo, the force-sensitive daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia who features prominently in the "Star Wars" Expanded Universe? Who will play her in “Episode VII”? Let the speculation begin!

In other "Star Wars" news, George Lucas recently told Access Hollywood that he hasn't yet spoken to Abrams about "Episode VII," despite his status as a creative consultant on the film. Many longtime fans turned off by the Lucas-directed "Star Wars" prequels will no doubt welcome the idea that, for now at least, Lucas is being kept as far, far away from the project as possible.

"Star Wars Episode VII" is set for release in summer 2015.
