Megan Fox to ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ detractors: ‘F— off!’

If you’re a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but haven’t been particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming Michael Bay produced reboot, then star Megan Fox has two words for you: "F--- off!"

Fox, who plays yellow-jacketed reptile pal April O’Neil in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” made the comment at a recent press event in Los Angeles when asked about the criticism the new version of “TMNT” has received online.

"Let me tell you something about those people,” Fox said. “How much money did ‘Transformers 4’ make? Exactly. Those people can complain – they all go to the theater. They’re gonna love it – and if they don’t love it, they can f--- off, and that’s the end of that.”

Fox's logic here isn't entirely sound. The Bay-directed “Transformers: Age of Extinction” made a boatload of money (over $1 billion worldwide at last count), so therefore “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” will be good? Fox is obviously passionate about the project, but telling fans or critics to "eff off" is a little much. Not cool, dude.

To be fair, longtime “TMNT” fans (including this one) may have been slightly harsh in their assessment of the Bay produced reboot, but that’s only because older versions of the heroes in a half-shell were such a big part of growing up in the late '80s and early '90s. Telling folks early on that the new Ninja Turtles were going to be “edgy” and “funny” aliens did not do much to endear Bay or his vision to fans. Early buzz for Bay's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" isn't good, but bad reviews didn't prevent the "Transformers" movies from making ridiculous amounts of cash.

It's not the first time Fox has put her foot squarely into her mouth with public comments. She was infamously fired from the "Transformers" franchise by Michael Bay after publicly comparing him to Hitler, but has since made amends with the filmmaker.

Maybe she should take some pointers from her "Ninja Turtles" co-star Will Arnett, who was far more diplomatic while talking about the film to Yahoo Movies Canada earlier this year.

"Everybody associated with the movie really understands the responsibility of working with these characters, this story, and the property that is so beloved," Arnett said. "We take that very seriously and we want to do something that really rings true with them . . . It’s a fine line, but I think that we’re going to get there. I’m very optimistic that fans are going to enjoy it.”

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" hits theatres on August 8.
