Mark Ruffalo gets in trouble with Marvel over ‘Avengers 2′ Twitter photos

Not a super-powered member of the Avengers is immune from the wrath of Marvel Studios. That’s what “Avengers: Age of Ultron” star Mark Ruffalo found out the hard way this week when he began filling his official Twitter and Tumblr accounts with behind the scenes photos from the set of the highly anticipated sequel.

Clearly thrilled to be back in action with his “Avengers” castmates, Ruffalo tweeted at Marvel to ask if he could post some pictures.

When he didn't receive a timely response, the actor went ahead and started posting anyways. Here’s a shot Ruffalo snapped of co-star Scarlett Johansson.

And here’s the Hulk actor with co-star Robert Downey Jr.:

Things then took a hilarious and awkward turn when Marvel’s official Twitter account finally replied to Ruffalo’s earlier tweet, chiding the actor for breaking the rules.

Ruffalo then attempted to charm his way out of trouble, expressing love (in tweet form) for his comic book movie masters. It almost worked, too!

The actor then promised to behave himself in the future.

Marvel is famous for keeping a Hulk-like grip on its lucrative superhero properties. When it comes to secrecy, the company make S.H.I.E.L.D. look like a bunch of amateurs, and they’re particularly secretive when it comes to their movie projects. When Ruffalo started tweeting, there were probably some worried faces in the Marvel PR department. But at least it all ended in Twitter love.

And it’s not like they’d fire him over the bad behaviour, right? It’s not like actors who’ve played Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the past have been recast or… Oh, right. Ruffalo was preceded in the role by Eric Bana (“The Hulk”) and Edward Norton (“The Incredible Hulk”) and is actually the first actor to play the character in more than one Marvel movie. We love the sneaky behind the scenes photos, Mark, but watch your back, dude!

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” arrives in theatres on May 1, 2015.
