Jennifer Ehle cast as ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ mom — where do you know her from?

The cast of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie is filling out. With the two leads in place – Dakota Johnson (“The Social Network") as Anastasia and Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Pacific Rim”) as Christian Grey – producers have now turned their attention to the supporting roles. First up: Anastatia's mom!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 43-year-old American-English actress Jennifer Ehle has been cast in the role of Carla Wilks, the flighty and frequently married mother of Anastasia. While Ehle’s name might not exactly ring any bells, the actress has appeared in some very high profile projects over the years.

What do you know her from?

Ehle is probably best known for her award-winning turn as Elizabeth Bennet in the 1995 BBC miniseries “Pride and Prejudice,” opposite Colin Firth. Despite the global success of the Jane Austen adaptation, Ehle has played mostly supporting roles in subsequent years. However, she has begun to accumulate a number of memorable parts in recent years in some very star-studded features.

You might remember Ehle as Myrtle Logue, the wife of Geoffrey Rush’s character in the Best Picture winner "The King's Speech" (again opposite Firth), or maybe as the wife of George Clooney’s Governor Mike Morris in the Oscar-nominated “The Ides of March.”

You might also recognize her as the CDC doctor Ally Hextall from Steven Soderbergh's underrated medical thriller "Contagion" or as CIA analyst Jessica from Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-nominated military procedural "Zero Dark Thirty." Ehle is one of those actresses who has been in far more movies than you realize.

What you may not know about her

Ehle was originally cast as Catelyn Stark in the unaired pilot of HBO’s hit fantasy series “Game of Thrones.” However, when the series was picked up she had to pass on the role for personal reasons, and the part went to Irish actress Michelle Fairley. Ehle also happens to be the daughter of actress Rosemary Harris, who played Aunt May Parker in Sam Raimi’s three “Spider-Man” films.

Ehle will next be seen opposite Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, and Michael Keaton in the upcoming remake of "Robocop."
