‘Frozen’ stars sing live at Disney music celebration

Having trouble getting those catchy songs from Disney’s animated smash “Frozen” out of your head? Well, you’re in luck! The cast of the hit family film are back just in time to jam those musical earworms right back into your brain.

At an event held at the Vibrato Grill Jazz club in Los Angeles in early February, the main voice cast of “Frozen” (Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Santino Fontana, and Josh Gad) reunited for a live performance of the music from the film. The evening was hosted Gad (who voices the lovable snowman Olaf in the film), and he and his co-stars entertained their audience with performances of some of the songs from the hit movie, including “In Summer,” “Love is An Open Door,” and the Oscar-nominated "Let It Go."

The event was intended to promote “Frozen” in the lead-up to the Academy Awards, where the movie is also up for the Best Animated Feature award. Star Menzel will perform “Let It Go” on Oscar night.

“Frozen” may have hit theatres in November 2013, but the film continues to be a phenomenon at the box office. Since its release, the movie has grossed more than $900 million worldwide, and just last weekend finished fourth at the box office behind “Ride Along” and new releases “Monuments Men” and “The Lego Movie.” The latter film finally dethroned “Frozen” as the reigning family box office champ.

Much of “Frozen's” continued success is due to the release of the new “Sing-Along” version of the movie, which features karaoke-style subtitles on screen to encourage audiences to belt out their favourites in the theatre. No word on how many folks attending the “Frozen” live music event in L.A. were singing along, but you can be sure there were more than a few. Those songs are really darned catchy!
