First Look at Snoopy and Charlie Brown in the 'Peanuts' Movie

Good grief, indeed! Charlie Brown and Snoopy are getting a serious makeover in this first look at the new 3-D, CGI version of "Peanuts."

Charles M. Schulz's classic cartoon strip has been spiffed up by 20th Century Fox for release later this year.

But before fans of Lucy, Linus, and Woodstock decry plans to reboot the property, it's being overseen by Schulz's son, Craig.

"It's long overdue. The fans have been asking for a long time, but we held off until the time was right," he told USA Today.

"I'm way more protective than my father would have been. Our No. 1 goal was always to be authentic to his work and legacy.”

Directing will be Steve Martino, who helmed "Ice Age: Continental Drift," from a script by Craig Schulz and son Bryan Schulz, while "The Heat's" Paul Feig is among the film's producers.

Though Craig Schulz was coy about the plot of the movie, he said that Charlie Brown's lifelong crush the Little Red-Haired Girl will appear.

Meanwhile, the 3-D rendering of Snoopy will allow viewers to see his "soft-white fur," while the beagle's frequent flights of fantasy will also figure largely in the mix.

As the younger Schulz reassured fans: "Snoopy will not be rapping, no one will be twerking, we're in good hands."

Phew...

The film arrives in the U.S. on Nov. 6.
