Fans create video tributes to Robin Williams

Tributes and stories have been pouring in from around the world since the untimely passing of actor/comedian Robin Williams earlier this week. Friends, colleagues, admirers, and fans of the late Oscar-winner have been sharing remembrances both online and on television.

Unsurprisingly, YouTube has been a popular forum for remembering Williams. Tribute videos featuring clips from some of the actor’s most beloved films (like “Aladdin,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Good Will Hunting,” and others) are popping up left and right. The tribute montage above is a nice showcase of Williams’ dramatic abilities, but for those who want to remember the comic actor with a laugh there are plenty of videos showcasing his funnier side as well, including this one:

Twitter has also been a hotbed of remembrance for Williams. The trending hashtag #RIPRobinWilliams is full of anecdotes about favourite Williams moments or performances and personal encounters people had with the actor. Canadian comedian Norm Macdonald’s tweets about his first encounter with Williams were particularly touching.

On the small screen, late night hosts Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien, and Seth Meyers all paid tribute to Williams on their programs last night. On the "Tonight Show," a tearful Fallon showed a clip of Williams’ first ever appearance on the long-running show, and finally saluted the comic actor “Dead Poets Society”-style by taking a stand on his desk.

Over on Conan, O’Brien recounted the story of when Williams bought him a particularly ugly bicycle to help lift his spirits after he parted ways with NBC. The host ended the segment by calling Williams the "best talk show guest ever." On Monday night, O’Brien had taken the unusual step of breaking the news of Williams’ passing to his studio audience during a taping of the show.

The huge amount of tributes just highlight how well liked and admired Williams was, both by Hollywood and by fans around the world.
