Exclusive: Watch the new trailer for ‘Dr. Cabbie’

We've got the exclusive trailer debut of the new comedy "Dr. Cabbie," presented and co-produced by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.

Set in Toronto, "Dr. Cabbie" follows Deepak (Vinay Virmani), a young doctor who emigrates from India to Canada only to be denied work as a medical professional. Deepak ends up driving a taxi to get by, but soon converts his cab into a mobile clinic in order to help people.

The movie aso features "The Big Bang Theory" star Kunal Nayyar in his first major film role. Nayyar plays a local cabbie who shows Virmani's Deepak the ropes.

Though it's obviously a comedy, "Dr. Cabbie" illustrates a very real issue for many new arrivals to Canada. Every year, thousands of highly skilled immigrants (like doctors and engineers) come to Canada, only to discover that their qualifications aren't recognized here. This often forces them to take jobs like driving taxis just to support themselves and their families.

A truly international production, "Dr. Cabbie" was shot in Toronto, directed by Quebec filmmaker Jean-François Pouliot ("La Grande Séduction"), and co-produced by Salman Khan's India-based Being Human Productions. The film also stars American actress Adrianne Palicki ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation") and Canuck Stephen McHattie ("Watchmen").

"Dr. Cabbie" arrives in theatres on Sept. 19.
