Backward-talking Yoda makes the Jedi Master … grammatically correct?

What's this? Legendary Jedi Master Yoda — famous for his skill with a lightsaber and distinctive speech pattern — speaking like a regular Joe from a galaxy far, far away?

Don't worry; George Lucas isn't messing with the "Star Wars" movies again (at least, not yet). But a fan-made video posted online does feature some major changes to the famous space opera, most notably in the Yoda department. Thanks to the clever editing of Canadian Vimeo user MechaStewart, you can finally hear what the pint-sized Jedi would sound like if he spoke in a decidedly ordinary fashion.

The self-described "Yoda fan" painstakingly re-edited numerous scenes from the "Star Wars" saga to make it seem as though the Jedi Master is speaking with the words in the right order. Check it out, you can:

It's amazing what a little editing can do. Robbing Yoda's speech pattern of its odd tempo and delivery removes almost all of his mysticism and apparent wisdom from the iconic green character. Hearing Yoda speak "correctly" is essentially like listening to an interview with director Frank Oz — the man who voiced the Jedi Master in five of the "Star Wars" movies.

MechaStewart calls his video a work of parody, and justifies his tinkering with the "Star Wars" movies as fair game. "If George can mess with perfection, so can I," he said in the video's comments. Got you there, he does, Mr. Lucas.
