Will Lindsay Lohan play opposite porn star James Deen?

Lindsay Lohan is apparently not letting her recent car accident get in the way of her career moves. The constant-celebrity, sometime-actress is in negotiations to star in "The Canyons" opposite porn star James Deen.

The film was written by screen-and-book-writer Bret Easton Ellis ("Less Than Zero," "American Psycho") and will be directed by Paul Schrader ("Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" writer, "Affliction" and "Auto-Focus" director). Ellis tweeted his delight over the prospect of the the two performers being in the film about twenty-somethings trying to make it in Los Angeles. A promotional video for the film assures it is "Not 'The Hills'."

As outlets earlier reported the casting news as a done deal, Schrader clarified on the official "Canyons" Facebook page:

Despite what may be reported elsewhere, casting on The Canyons is not quite finalized. We're approaching resolution. When the casting is complete, I'll write a report about the letitcast process, naming the names of those we were most impressed with as well as anecdotal details. Many wonderful young actors submitted audtions (sic) and I like to bring some of them to wider attention. Or at least the wider attention that this website provides. Paul S.

Money for the film was raised through social fundraising tool Kickstarter -- designed to facilitate "crowd funding" for various projects, many of which are independent films. To date, "The Canyons" has raised nearly $160 thousand through Kickstarter.

While the ink has not yet dried on the Lohan deal, the 25-year-old was drawn to the role -- not by Deen -- but by the opportunity to work with Schrader (via an E! News source):

He's an amazing filmmaker and it's an amazing role for her. She couldn't be happier. Although if she'd had a problem with James Deen, she wouldn't have pursued the role.

If cast, Lohan would play Tara, a former model and girlfriend of Christian -- a kinky, manipulative trust fund kid -- to possibly be played by Deen.

Deemed by ABC's "Nightline" as "Porn's Boy Next Door," 26-year-old Deen has a following uncharacteristic for his genre: teen girls. He has starred in roughly 2,000 adult films whose titles -- those that we can list here -- include, "Official Wife Swap Parody," "Perfect Specimens 2" (but not "1" -- just to be clear) and "Hot For Teacher."

This is not Lohan's first brush with porn -- so to speak: She was set to star as Linda Lovelace in a biopic but was fired and later replaced by Amanda Seyfried because of difficulties insuring the often-troubled actress. And given the limited budget of "The Canyons," it's not completely out of the question that film will run into the same issue.

The film will be shot in Los Angeles during most of July and will be released on-demand (not in theaters).

In related news, Easton Ellis divulged another sexy detail on Twitter; He plans to adapt the popular erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" into a screenplay.

Lohan is currently shooting Lifetime's Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton biopic "Liz & Dick."

When contacted for this story, Lohan's management did not comment.
