Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are known mischief-makers, but this time George got Sandy. He got her good.
The two megastars have been friends since the '80s — before either of them were famous. By now, the two "Gravity" stars are almost embarrassed to count the years, Bullock told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show."
"We're now starting to take the years off how long it's been," the 49-year-old actress told Leno on Friday of her longtime platonic relationship with Clooney.
So, why haven't they ever dated?
"I think we're the only two who haven't dated in the business," Bullock said with a laugh. "It's because we're a little too similar … in all the disturbing ways."
Bullock then coyly confirmed to Leno that the two megastars have done a lot of hanging out over the years, going to parties "and things."
Leno kept on the topic of Clooney, asking Bullock about "the pool." She appeared to be taken off guard, and admitted she was embarrassed about the story.
But with her trademark irreverence, she told it.
Bullock was with Clooney, Nicole Kidman, and some other unnamed people at a dinner party when he and a male guest stripped down to their pants and told Bullock they were going into the pool.
Little did Bullock know that Clooney was in full-on prank mode.
Sandra Bullock Recalls George Clooney's Pool Prank:
"I held their hands and on the count of three — and in slow motion I see Nicole Kidman with a stack of towels and I think, 'Why is she …?' And I jump. And they let go. And I go in the pool," the "Gravity" star recounted as the NBC studio audience roared with laughter.
Being the only one to land in the pool wasn't the worst of it for Bullock.
"The sad part was I wore this cute little lace dress that I paid a lot of money for and as I got out it started disintegrating," Bullock recalled.
Clooney can now add "dress slayer" to his resume.
"Gravity," starring two old friends, lifts off in theaters Friday, October 4.
