First Look: Chloë Grace Moretz as “Carrie”

This time last week, I was in Toronto on the set of the highly anticipated "Carrie" remake, which stars 15-year-old Chloë Grace Moretz as the telekinetic teen who goes on a prom night rampage after being doused in pig's blood. Unfortunately, that's about all I can reveal at the moment because the studio behind the production — Sony's Screen Gems — had me sign an embargo. No biggie. In the coming months, I'll post multiple interviews with the cast and crew and relay my time in Toronto — all on Yahoo! Movies, naturally. But, in the meantime, let's look at the first two stills, released earlier today.

The first one shows a blood-soaked Moretz as the title character, who was portrayed by Oscar nominee Sissy Spacek in director Brian De Palma's 1976 version of the film. The other features four-time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore as Carrie's religious zealot mother, Margaret White, originally played to perfection by Piper Laurie. Both ladies look equally insane (in a good way!), right?

Are you excited to see the "Carrie" remake, which director Kimberly Peirce — of "Boys Don't Cry" fame — promises will be a modernized, character-driven construction of Stephen King's first novel? If so, mark your calendars. The supernatural horror movie is set to open nationwide on March 15, 2013.
