Is Tony Stark all washed up?
Yahoo! Movies has your exclusive first look at the final poster for Marvel Studios' "Iron Man 3," and it shows the billionaire industrialist (played once again by Robert Downey Jr.) dumped into the drink as his Malibu pad explodes and crashes into the ocean. Tony's armor is a wreck, with chunks blown off, smoldering edges, and injured skin exposed.

The one directly above Tony's right arm has a grey and gold finish with spiky shoulders. Another directly behind his left shoulder is a bulkier suit with a gold, white and black appearance. Could this be the rumored "Deep Space Suit" fans have been buzzing about? A photo of an upcoming toy was released in late January with that description, which lead some Marvel acolytes to wonder if Tony might take a trip out into the cosmos, perhaps to meet up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, another comic-book team that will be getting their own movie in 2014.
In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, writer/director Shane Black ("Kiss Kiss Bang Bang") revealed that Tony's dependence on his technology is growing as a result of the Earth-shattering events he witnessed in "The Avengers." Black said, "After 'The Avengers,' he's relying on these suits to feel like he's in any way capable… He surrounds himself with these things almost like a blanket." And then after a new nemesis, The Mandarin (played by Ben Kingsley), rains fire down on him, Tony is all the more lost. Black said, "Instead of taking away his playboy lifestyle and his comfort zone of cushions and creature comforts, we take away his tech and suit comforts."
We've seen in the first trailer that when Stark's cliff-side house is attacked, all his earlier suits get blown up in their display case in Tony's workshop. So the suits depicted in the poster must be new editions. But that raises questions: Are they all Tony's, or is someone else making super-powered suits? How did they survive the attack? And who — if anybody — is inside them?
We should be getting more answers when the final theatrical trailer for "Iron Man 3" premieres exclusively here on Yahoo! Movies on March 5, at noon ET/9 a.m. PT. Check back this coming Tuesday to see if Tony Stark is going to sink or swim.
