Will Arnett Recruited For Secret Role in ‘Ninja Turtles’

Ah, what George Oscar Bluth II could've done with a little Turtle Power!

Casting on the Michael Bay-produced reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" just got a little, well, funnier as "Arrested Development" and "30 Rock" alum Will Arnett has joined the production in a role that Platinum Dunes is keeping under wraps.

Your first instinct might be that Arnett will be playing Casey Jones, the hockey mask-wearing and hockey stick-wielding street vigilante played by Elias Koteas in the original 1990 live-action film. Somewhat unfortunately, it's been confirmed that Arnett won't be playing Casey ... which has us imagining him as either Splinter, the Turtles' rat sensei, or Shredder, the Turtles masked arch-enemy.

If it's either of those two characters, our money's on the former, just because Will Arnett needs to play a giant talking rodent that spews existential truths and knows martial arts at least once before he retires. But really, chances are he's probably just playing April's boss or something.

Arnett joins a cast that includes Michael Bay alum/survivor Megan Fox as scrappy reporter April O'Neil, the Turtles' number-one ally. All four Turtles have been cast, with Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Noel Fisher (Michelangelo), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo) and Jeremy Howard (Donatello) set to yell "Cowabunga!"

If indeed the Turtles still use that term as their battle cry. Bay's reboot has already received a lot of scorn from hardcore Turtle fans for his revisionist approach to the mythology, starting with dropping "Teenage" and "Mutant" from the title and giving the reptilian warriors alien origins. It remains to be seen whether they still do all the stuff we love about TMNT, such as eat pizza and call each other "Dude."

"Ninja Turtles" will hit theaters on June 6, 2014. Cowabunga pizza time, dudes!
