Vin Diesel Tears Up Over Paul Walker, Accepts Their MTV Movie Award

It was a rare moment of speechlessness for Vin Diesel.  Accepting his MTV Movie Award in the Best On-Screen Duo category, the actor was seen in a video posted to Facebook just today choking up and overcome with emotion as he spoke about his co-recipient, the late Paul Walker.

The two actors and friends won for their big screen pairing in last year's summer action hit "Fast & Furious 6." But it wasn't until a day after the show that the acceptance speech hit the web.

"I wish he could be here to see this," Diesel said choking back tears as he waved the Golden Popcorn trophy in his hand. "But I know he's here in spirit."

The tears began to run however as Diesel finshed his thought: "Thank you for honoring me, and more importantly thank you for honoring that angel, my brother Paul Walker."

The taped tribute by Diesel, posted to his Facebook page on Monday, was actually supposed to air during Sunday night's show, Yahoo Movies has learned. "It was dissappointing," a source close to Diesel tells Yahoo of the show's failure to run it.

Diesel couldn't be at Sunday's show because he was on location outside of the country, filming "Fast & Furious 7."

"Back in 2002 it was you, the MTV audience, that first acknowledged this brotherhood between Paul Walker and myself — by honoring us with the best team on film," Diesel said in his speech. "It's surreal to be standing here 12 years later and that you have been so generous to give us this award again."

An abbreviated, taped tribute to Walker, introduced by "Fast" star Jordana Brewster live during Sunday's show, did make the cut — one in which Diesel also appeared.

But today's footage is much more emotional than what we saw during Sunday's show.

Diesel has shared a few photos and Walker rememberances on his Facebook page since "Fast 7" resumed filming late last month. But Monday's video is arguably the most emotional he has appeared publicly since the tragic passing of his co-star last November.
