Blake Lively's shark thriller The Shallows will air on UK TV this evening (January 8).

First released in 2016, the movie focuses on a medical student called Nancy Adams (played by Lively) who travels to Mexico following the death of her mother.

While there, she joins locals on a secluded beach for a surfing session, though while out at sea she is attacked by a great white shark, and stranded 200 yards out, Nancy must use her wits and willpower to make it back to shore alive.

If you're yet to catch the thriller or fancy a rewatch, The Shallows is set to air on BBC One at 10.40pm this evening, and will be added to BBC iPlayer after it has been broadcast.

The acclaimed movie, which has a 78% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, was also added to Netflix a few months ago.

In other news, Lively is currently in the middle of a legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, with the star suing him for alleged sexual harassment and "retaliatory scheme to silence her".

Following legal action taken last month against Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios at California’s Civil Rights Department over sexual harassment and "a coordinated effort to destroy her reputation", Lively has formally sued him at federal court in New York alongside Wayfarer's CEO Jamey Heath and co-founder Steve Sarowitz.

Baldoni denied Lively's allegations and called them "completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt and rehash a narrative in the media".

The Shallows will air on BBC One this evening (January 8) at 10.40pm, and will be added to BBC iPlayer shortly after. The movie is also streaming on Netflix.
