Blackpink star Jisoo's upcoming drama Snowdrop has given fans a glimpse of her character in its new trailer.

South Korean television network JTBC has shared a teaser of the romantic and historical drama starring the singer and actor Jung Hae-in. The show will stream on Disney+ in the UK.

Set in 1987, the series follows Su-ho (Hae-in), a mysterious graduate student, and Young-ro (Jisoo), a university student who lives in an all-female dormitory.

The two cross paths when Su-ho seeks refuge in the dormitory after a protest at the Hosoo Women's University.

What seems to be a whirlwind romance between two young students from different backgrounds ties into the story of South Korea at a particularly delicate time.

The trailer cuts to a scene featuring surgeon Kang Chung-ya (Touch Your Heart star Yoo In-na), who is seen covered in blood with a gun aimed at her.

The country was under a despotic rule until the late 1980s, with 1987 being a tragic, crucial year for the democratisation process following the murder of a Seoul student and democracy activist, Park Jong Chul.

Snowdrop is Jisoo's first lead role in a television series. The singer has previously starred on TV show Arthdal Chronicles, released in 2019 and also featuring Song Joong-ki and Kim Ji-Won.

The story takes place during the Bronze Age and is loosely based on the story of Dangun, the founder of the first Korean Kingdom of Gojoseon. Jisoo plays Sae Narae in the second episode of the series, distributed globally by Netflix.

Snowdrop will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+ in the UK.
