Multiple people have been injured in an incident in central London.

Four people were stabbed in Bishopsgate after a bike thief was challenged less than 200m from a City of London Police station, witnesses have said.

One man said he saw four people "badly injured" as he passed through the Liverpool Street Station area on a bus.

Another witness said that the attack lasted two minutes, and that the incident happened less than 200m from the City of London Police station.

He said that the "perpetrators got away".

Another said four people had been "randomly stabbed".

A City of London Police spokesman said: "We are aware of an incident this morning on Bishopsgate.

"Our officers are at the scene and London Ambulance are in attendance.

"A cordon is currently in place."
