Billie Eilish is well known for her alternative style, green hair and baggy clothing but the artist has said the persona she's created acts as a detriment to her at times.

The Grammy award winner, who has said in the past that she sports loose-fitting outfits to avoid being judged on her body, believes it has led to some not seeing her as a woman.

Speaking to GQ magazine, she said: “Sometimes I dress like a boy. Sometimes I dress like a swaggy girl. And sometimes I feel trapped by this persona that I have created, because sometimes I think people view me not as a woman."

The 18-year-old also referenced her Where Do We Go? tour short film 'NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY' which saw her take of layers of clothing in a powerful statement.

Eilish slowly removed her clothes in the footage down to a bra top while her voiceover discussed the criticism she'd faced about her body.

She told the publication: "It is me saying: look, there is a body underneath these clothes and you don’t get to see it. Isn’t that a shame?"

The teenager addressed why she opts to cover up as part of a campaign for Calvin Klein last year.

“I never want the world to know everything about me,” she said in the ad. “I mean, that’s why I wear big, baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath, you know?”

She added: “Nobody can be like, ‘Oh, she’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she’s got a flat ass, she’s got a fat ass. No one can say any of that, because they don’t know.”
