Tesla sees German car sales plunge in January
Tesla sold almost 60% fewer cars in Germany in January than in the year-earlier period, as the U.S. electric vehicle maker faces a test of popularity amid headline-grabbing political involvement by its billionaire CEO Elon Musk. German road traffic agency KBA's website on Wednesday showed the number of newly registered Tesla cars fell 59.5% to 1,277 in January, while the overall German market was down just 2.8% at slightly more than 207,000 vehicles during the month. The overall segment of battery-electric vehicles, where Tesla is competing, however, gained popularity in January, with sales up 53.5% at almost 34,500 vehicles across all brands.

Embraer inks record Flexjet order, boosting shares
SAO PAULO (Reuters) -Brazilian planemaker Embraer has signed a deal to supply Flexjet with up to 212 jets, it said on Wednesday, a contract valued at up to $7 billion at current list prices. The agreement represents the largest firm order ever for Embraer's executive aircraft, with firm orders for 182 aircraft and options for another 30, the group said in a statement. The order from Flexjet, which allows clients to buy a part-share in aircraft, comes as a major boost for the Brazilian company, which had already been riding tailwinds on strong demand for its commercial and military aircraft.

Canada's services PMI shows activity shrinking in January
Canada's services economy deteriorated for the second straight month in January as uncertainty generated by the threat of U.S. trade tariffs offset lower borrowing costs, S&P Global's Canada services PMI data showed on Wednesday. The headline Business Activity Index rose to 49.0 from 48.2 in December but remained below the 50.0 no-change mark. "Panellists continued to note soft underlying market demand, with uncertainty weighing on business decisions," Paul Smith, economics director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said in a statement.
