Here's Bill Murray's Entire Comic-Con Panel, Water-Throwing and Singing Included

Bill Murray rocked Comic-Con on Thursday, when he made his first appearance at the annual San Diego geek festival to promote his upcoming film Rock the Kasbah. Now you can watch the whole appearance in the video above.

The beloved actor was cheered for just about every anecdote he told — even when they weren’t exactly references that the Hall H audience would normally embrace. For example: Murray revealed that he based his character in Barry Levinson’s dramedy, a down-on-his-luck music manager who finds himself penniless in Afghanistan, in part on Van Morrison’s old grizzled road manager.

The cheers were exponentially louder when Murray answered a fan inquiry about his favorite-ever role.

“Once upon a time, I did save the city of New York. And I had the coolest damn car to drive around Manhattan,” Murray replied, delighting the crowd (and the fan, who was wearing a Ghostbusters shirt).

Murray also discussed his current musical tastes and buddies in the industry, which include the Grateful Dead, Jenny Lewis, and Miley Cyrus, with whom he worked on Sofia Coppola’s upcoming Netflix Christmas special.

“Miley Cyrus is really f—ing good,” he said. “She can really sing. I thought she was a knucklehead crazy girl who you’d want to go on a road trip with, maybe with no ID, but she floored everyone. So I don’t wanna hear any more bad rapping of Miley Cyrus.”
