As Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and West Niagara gear up to hit the links, they also forged a new partnership with a Niagara company.

Beatties, a Niagara-based office supplies company, will become the title sponsor of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and West Niagara golf tournament.

The Bigger Together Golf Classic is an annual summer golf tournament held by Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and West Niagara and Beatties will now serve as the title sponsor for the event for the next three years.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and West Niagara and support youth in our communities,” said Brad Steeves, president of Beatties.

He said in its 160-plus years of operation, giving back to the community has always been part of Beatties’ business, and Beatties is “proud to be able to play an integral role with the Bigger Together Golf Classic in support of the kids.”

Now in its 28th year, the Bigger Together Golf Classic will be held on Monday, Aug. 30 at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club. The classic also serves as a networking event for Big Brothers Big Sisters, matching youth (Littles) with mentors (Bigs).

According to Michelle Miller, president of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North and West Niagara board of directors, there are over 200 kids on the wait-list for the organization and that number grew “significantly” over the pandemic.

“Given that it takes approximately $1,000 to take a child off the waiting list and place him/her into the mentorship program, we are simply ecstatic and grateful for a community leader like Beatties to enter into a multi-year partnership with our organization,” Miller said.
