BGT's Amanda Holden opens up about stillborn son

From Digital Spy

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has discussed her son's tragic death seven years ago.

Following a recent interview on ITV's The NHS Saved My Life, Amanda teared up as she remembered her stillborn son Theo looking "so normal and so peaceful".

"I was still his mummy," she said. "So I held him in my arms and I said goodbye."

Amanda, who has two daughters, explained that her family was crucial to recovering from the tragedy, and paid tribute to the NHS workers who looked after her.

"I couldn't have done it without the incredible team around us," she added. "And, you know, my husband, obviously, was so strong and so amazing. But they got him through it too.

"And then subsequently the days and months afterwards the same team of people checked on us every single day. And it's not because I'm on the telly or famous or anything like that. I believe they would have extended that care to any woman, to any family in my situation."

In happier news, the Britain's Got Talent judge put her golden buzzer to good use on the ITV show last weekend, following a spectacular performance by Welsh singer Gruffydd Wyn Roberts.

Reflecting on the impressive performance, Amanda told Gruffydd: "When you were 10 [years old], Paul Potts auditioned on this show. He blew us away, and oh god – you just did the same!"

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV.
