Best buddies Jennifer Garner and first lady Dr. Jill Biden returned to the actor's home state of West Virginia together to tour two vaccination sites. People reports that Garner, who is from Charleston, West Virginia, has been working with the Biden Administration to promote vaccines and some policy initiatives. Today, the duo made appearances at Arnoldsburg Elementary School in Arnoldsburg and a vaccination site at Capital High School in Charleston.

The trip had originally been planned for Alabama last month, but the event had to be postponed because of severe weather. In addition to working together on this initiative, Biden and Garner worked together as board members at Save the Children. Garner recently visited a shelter at the U.S.-Mexico border with the organization, showing her followers how Border Patrol officers and humanitarian aid workers were working together to reunite children with their families.

For today's appearances, Biden wore a white dress and a pink blazer. She re-wore her floral-print Christian Dior kitten heels and added a long string of pearls to her outfit. Garner wore a knit black dress with long sleeves and pointy black pumps.

Sen. Joe Manchin also joined the two on the trip, calling Garner "West Virginia's first daughter."

"I am so happy to be here. I can't even tell you how happy I am to be here. To come home in the spring in the sunshine and the mountains bursting with green," Garner said, according to WSAZ. "I am even more thrilled to be welcoming Dr. Biden, our first lady here to our beautiful state. Lots of people talk about, 'Oh West Virginia it's a beautiful place.' Lots of people say, 'We care about every state in the country,' but who really shows up right in the beginning of the administration and says this matters. Kids matter. You matter to us."

Biden also spoke about what makes West Virginia special, highlighting the sense of community she felt and citizens' independent spirit.

"It's the community and spirit of independence that has been woven into your state since its beginning," she said. "I know you've shown that spirit in the last year — picking up groceries for your neighbor, or checking in on the church member who's spending holidays alone, or volunteering at a food bank. This community found ways to come together even when you were apart."
