Beyoncé is now the most-awarded artist in Grammys history

It's official: Beyoncé is now the most-awarded musician in Grammy Awards history.

The global superstar broke the all-time record (previously held by the late orchestral conductor Sir Georg Solti) after winning the award for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. She was accompanied by her husband, rapper and mogul Jay Z for the evening, who before the awards, she previously was tied with for being the two most Grammy-nominated artists of all time.

Beyoncé recognised the magnitude of the moment during her acceptance speech, saying, "I'm trying not to get too emotional. I'm trying to just receive this night," she said while visibly emotional. "I want to thank God for protecting me. Thank you God. I'd like to thank my Uncle Johnny who's not here, but he's here in spirit."

She also thanked her family and went on to acknowledge the queer community which heavily influenced her seventh studio album.

"I want to thank the queer community for their love and for inventing this genre," she added. "Thank you so much to the Grammys."

The singer was nominated nine times tonight for her critically acclaimed seventh album Renaissance, which also took home awards for Best R&B Song as well as Best Dance/Electronic Recording throughout the evening.

Beyoncé previously reflected on this new era of her life and career to Harper's Bazaar in 2021 while she was still finishing up what would eventually become Renaissance.

"I’ve done so much in 40 years that I just want to enjoy my life. It’s hard going against the grain, but being a small part of some of the overdue shifts happening in the world feels very rewarding. I want to continue to work to dismantle systemic imbalances. I want to continue to turn these industries upside down," she told Bazaar. "I have paid my dues and followed every rule for decades, so now I can break the rules that need to be broken. My wish for the future is to continue to do everything everyone thinks I can’t do."
