The best tweets about The Undoing finale as Elena's killer is revealed
The Undoing reached its tense conclusion last night which means after weeks of guessing we finally know who killed Elena Alves. At first, we were absolutely certain it was Jonathan Fraser, but he insisted he didn't do it and we started to believe him - even when the evidence suggested otherwise. Then we thought it might be Elena's husband Fernando Alves, or Grace, or possibly her dad Franklin Reinhardt. Even Grace and Jonathan's son Henry made it onto our suspect list.
*Major season finale spoilers*
But in the end it turned out to be the most glaringly obvious suspect - Jonathan - who bludgeoned Elena to death after she told him she was planning to become friends with Grace.
Here's how Twitter reacted to the season finale...
The killer
Me thinking I’d sussed the killer in #TheUndoing only for it to be the most obvious damn person 😦 pic.twitter.com/8t7xh1YvlW

Hello! I pronounce myself 'HIGHLY SATISFIED' with the ending of The Undoing!!! There was no bullshit obfuscation and coy fence-sitting with an eye on a second series.
We found out EVERYTHING and it was like the Olden Times when shows had an ENDING and I'm relieved and grateful— Marian Keyes (@MarianKeyes) November 30, 2020
i cant believe the #TheUndoing had me blaming 10 year old children for elena alves’ murder 💀 pic.twitter.com/ehJAhTcLa3

#TheUndoing really had me questioning everyone the whole time - I think I made them all a suspect at some point 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/3ncwKwQ0SR

#TheUndoing was many things but mostly it was the perfect showcase for Noma Dumezweni. She stole every scene she was in & I’d gladly watch her character’s spin-off show. pic.twitter.com/74fGgiGzI5

Just give Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant all the awards right now!!! What a show and what a finale😳

Nicole Kidman will always be great, but Noah Jupe is the real MVP. Give him the #Emmys already!
and the finale was great tho, and satisfying.#TheUndoing pic.twitter.com/N1FUua0Zai— Fazha (@fazhamr) November 30, 2020

#TheUndoing was a terrific show. But I feel like we’re not talking about this dress as much as we should. pic.twitter.com/HrmZ0hppXi

Such a compelling finale of #TheUndoing! Really enjoyed this show from start to finish. Very well written. I was never 100% sure who I thought the killer was. Great performances all round, & it was nice to see Hugh Grant in such a different kind of role. Definitely worth a watch. pic.twitter.com/6lwgqkDBac

The fact that #TheUndoing had us creating theories on how every character could have been the killer, while simultaneously not paying attention to the obvious killer right in front of our face has me in awe. And then the acting woah !!!!! pic.twitter.com/cEmmhgTGRy

Meanwhile, director Susanne Bier has opened up about the ending, and why we refused to believe the killer could be Jonathan.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan.com, Susanne shared, "We, as an audience, are experiencing exactly what Grace is experiencing. We realised that Jonathan was not who we really thought he was in the beginning. He has a lot of remorse, so little by little we come to forgive him. And little by little we come to and see what we actually should see. All the evidence points to him, but we want to believe it's everyone else. But Jonathan is taking the audience on a ride, exactly the same way he took Grace on a ride."
As for a season 2, she said there are no plans for one right now but if the opportunity arose she'd definitely be on board. "I would love to, but at this point in time, there's been no conversations about it," she said. "None whatsoever. So if I said yes, it would be wishful thinking, but I would like to say yes. I would like to throw myself at that beat of wishful thinking."
We're 100% here for a season 2.
