Exclusive-India weighs scrapping import tax on US LNG, boost purchases, sources say
India is considering a proposal to scrap import tax on U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) to boost purchases and help cut the trade surplus with Washington, a key irritant for President Donald Trump, four government and industry sources said. The United States is India's second biggest supplier but the two sides are looking to ramp up volumes for India's energy-hungry economy, one of the fastest growing in the world. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's U.S. visit last month, India pledged to increase U.S. energy purchases by $10 billion to $25 billion in the near future, while both leaders agreed to target $500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030.

Analysis-Deal slump hits US high-grade bond supply, pressures spreads
The pipeline for U.S. high-grade corporate bond issuance to fund mergers has fallen to the lowest levels in five years as President Donald Trump's trade war deters deals, in what could be a boon for borrowers but a challenge for banks and investors. Wall Street had expected the Trump administration's policies such as deregulation and tax cuts to fuel a resurgence in deal activity and add $250 billion to $300 billion of investment-grade bonds to fund it this year, up from $179 billion in 2024, according to interviews with six debt capital markets bankers. Instead, economic uncertainty due to Trump's policies, especially the threat of tariffs on U.S. imports, has thrown markets into turmoil, and prompted executives to hit "pause" on deals while they await clarity.
