What’s are the actual best Oreo flavors? It’s not an easy question to answer, considering there are somewhere between 25 and 40 flavors available at any one time.

However, it’s a challenge In The Know producer Poppy Shen was willing to tackle. To find out the true ranking of the best Oreo flavors, Poppy rolled up her sleeves, poured a big glass of milk and got to work.

For help, she also ordered the ultimate Oreo-eating gadget — this Ultimate Cookie Spoon from The Dipr.

Trying every single Oreo flavor would be logistically difficult (and horrible for Poppy’s stomach), but we managed to round up as many options as we could find. Ultimately, we tested 20 different varieties.

Here’s what we ended up testing: Java Chip, Oreo Minis, Carrot Cake, Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Chocolate Marshmallow, Lemon, Caramel Coconut, Lady Gaga-themed, Mint Thins, Lemon Thins, Dark Chocolate Thins, White Fudge-Covered Minis, Double Stuffed, Golden Double Stuffed, NBA Dynasty-themed, Fudge-Covered and of course, classic Oreos.

What are the best Oreo flavors? These are our favorites

We rated all seven of our contestants on a simple, one-to-10 scale. For sake of your eyes and appetites, we’ve reduced those ratings to a few highlights:

Oreo Thins: For a true Oreo connoisseur, less Oreo is never better. 2/10.

Carrot Cake: This was one of Poppy’s least favorite flavors. If you’re not in the mood for carrot cake, a smaller version really doesn’t cut it. 5/10.

Lemon: The flavor is strong, but if you’re ready for it, this is one of the best flavors out there. Maybe just choose your milk a little more wisely than Poppy (she went with chocolate here, not great). Still, great stuff overall. 9/10

Lady Gaga: These limited-edition Oreos may come with plenty of style, but flavor-wise, they’re just a plain old Oreo. 6/10.

Fudge-Covered: Soft on the outside, crunchy on the inside and covered in chocolate — what more could you want? This classic Oreo variation was easily our favorite. Perfection! 10/10.

So, there you have it. If we could only buy one Oreo type for the rest of our lives, you better believe it’d be Fudge-Covered. And since these rankings are obviously totally objective — be sure to go out and get some for yourself.
