Whether you want to safeguard your house against burglaries, or just want to make sure you don't answer the door to an unbearably chatty neighbour, having a bit of tech that can tell you exactly who's on your porch without you having to make the effort to get there is important.

Now that you're off out to the pub or back on your commute through the week, here's another reminder to keep an eye on your property when you're away from home. A video doorbell gives you a useful digital eye on your doorstep to help you guide visitors or record footage just in case you need it. Besides, you're going to want to make sure the Postie knows where to deliver all your Black Friday shopping items if you're not at home.

What are they? We're glad you asked. They are little lens fixed above the doorbell that capture anyone that comes to your door, beaming a live video to your smartphone if you’re away from home, and the ability to talk to people at your door no matter where you are.

Sound interesting? There are plenty of options to choose from with devices catering to all budgets and technical needs, and with the ongoing Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals making everything cheaper during November, it's now the best time to grab a bargain.

Throughout the sale, we've seen discounts of up to 50% on top offers from the main brands, and there are even a few offers that give you a free Amazon Echo Show included in the price.

Best Cyber Monday Video Doorbell Deals 2021

There are a few different brands to choose from but the two main ones for video doorbells are Ring and Eufy. Both are somewhat owned by Amazon and will have all the smart features like video calling and the ability to store footage.

In previous Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales, we've seen roughly 30% discounts but this year we've noticed up to 50% on some of the best devices, helping you protect your home for much less.

For example, this eufy Security, Battery Video Doorbell Kit with Chime was £99.99 but is now £69.99, saving you £30. You get the Chime as part of the deal as well so you can get a loud notification in your home when the doorbell is rung.

However, some of the best deals we've seen get you an Amazon smart device like the Echo Show or an Echo Dot at a heavily discounted price.

This first offer will get you the Echo Show 8 and a wired Ring doorbell for £148.99 down from £69.99, saving you £79 in total. You can connect the two devices together to get the live footage on your Echo, which is great if you're cooking at the kitchen and can't immediately answer the door.

Alternatively the same deal is on the Echo Show 5 and the Ring doorbell, getting you both for £39.99 down from £74.99. The Show 5 is a little older than the 8, with a smaller screen, but it comes with all the same useful features, acting as a smart speaker to help you do everything from play your playlist through voice control to planning out your calendar.

There aren't many other Ring deals in the Black Friday sales so far, other than this offer on just the Ring doorbell alone (was £49.99, now £34) but there are a few offers to get either Eufy or Blink models, which are just as good.

Eufy's models work much in the same way as Ring, allowing you to answer the door through a video call and get notifications when someone is arriving at your home.

The most impressive model is the 2K edition, which films everything that happens at your front door in crystal-clear 2K resolution, helping you identify visitors and get a good look at any intruders who might be at your door.

This model was £179 but has been dropped down to £129 in the sale, saving you £50. If you wanted a slightly downgraded Full HD model and the additional Chime, you can get this model for £69.99 down from £99.99.

And while this isn't strictly a Cyber Monday offer, you can pre-order Blink's new video doorbell, which has a built-in chime, two-way video calling, and Alexa built in. It's £49.99 on Amazon right now and will be arriving in the new year, so you can get your device secured in the post now.

What is a Video Doorbell?

Whenever someone presses the button on your video doorbell, you’ll get a notification to get a live feed where you can talk to whoever’s there, even if you’re not at home. How very Orwellian, though it's not the dystopian nightmare you're thinking of. It's great to be able to see exactly who is at your front door without even having to go and answer it, and the fact you can talk to someone at your home from your office or at the pub is a dream. If you want the doorbell to alert you when you’re there, you can also get a Ring Chime (£30), which dings around your home whenever someone presses the button.

You can then sign up to a Ring Protect Plan (£2.50 per month) that will automatically start recording if it detects motion, saving the footage in the cloud for you to look at whenever you want, which can be crucial if you fall victim of a crime.

It’s a good way to deter burglars, keep an eye on deliveries, and decide if you can be bothered to answer the door based on whoever you see on your smartphone screen.

There are two broad options: wired models which will require installation into your home (start dusting off your DIY skills) or battery-powered ones that can just be screwed in and recharging every six months or so.

What is Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2021?

If you’ve somehow never even heard of Black Friday or Cyber Monday before, it’s basically the biggest online shopping event of the year where you can find big discounts on top gadgets and tech, as well as clothes, and household items. Been keeping your eye on that top-spec cinema projector? It will likely get some kind of price drop over the sale.

Hundreds of retailers take part every year, and we’ve seen some solid discounts that can give you up to 70% off things like TVs, headphones, smart speakers, and watches.

However, you should be aware that some retailers are sneaky and slowly increase prices in the months leading up to Black Friday before dropping discounts, making it look like you’re saving a heap of cash when in reality, it’s similar to what it was six months ago.

Our Esquire editors are experts at finding a good deal among the chaos so we can help you find the genuine offers.

When is Cyber Monday 2021?

Officially, it kicks off at just-gone midnight on Friday 26 November and runs through until midnight on Monday the 29th, which is known as Cyber Monday.

It got this name as this was often when the tech deals landed, but over the years, it has grown to a point where you can often find a discount you’ll want to go for throughout the month.
